About Us

Greg & Heidi Mohn

We have breed & shown Cavaliers under the Covington Affix since 1994. We are members of the National breed clubs (The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club-USA, The American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club and the English Cavalier Club) and several regional affiliates. We have both served as Board of Directors for either AKC or CKCSC-USA regional clubs for several terms.

Heidi is a Championship Show Judge for the CKCSC-USA (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club- USA) & the AKC (American Kennel Club) & is home full time with her Cavaliers after retiring from corporate America in 2000. Previously an avid horsewoman successfully training and competing hunter/jumpers in England, she worked for a winning Steeple Chase Thoroughbred breeder. That is where the foundation for structure, movement & animal husbandry developed. Once back in the US, she rodeoed for nearly 10 years (All Around Cowgirl, NWJRA 1980) until a bi-lateral hip replacement forced a change in direction.
Greg has worked at Boeing since 1986 and enjoys sports & hunting.

Our affix of Covington is registered in the CKCSC-USA and AKC. We are proud to have the Covington name associated with the enormous effort and commitment that goes into preserving the  integrity of the breed. Every puppy we breed is registered and every pedigree will include only dogs from ethical kennels all over the world that share our same principles.

Our dogs are incorporated into our home & our daily lives revolve around them. Puppies are born & raised in our home & sleep next to our bed with full time devotion to their needs & socialization. We do sell some puppies as pets, yet our primary reason for breeding is for our own love & passion of the breed.  Over generations we do carefully evaluate and select the best representatives of the breed and proudly present those dogs in a competitive show ring.

Show & performance dogs are athletes, first & foremost they must be healthy both physically & mentally in order to perform. We continue to title more Covington owned and bred Champions & performance dogs every year although we are not as active in the show ring ourselves as previous years. Our dogs have been awarded multiple Register of Merits (ROMS, for their ability to consistently produce Champions themselves) in both the CKCSC-USA and AKC. We have qualified and competed with honors at the most prestigious dog shows in the world: Westminster Kennel Club at Madison Square Garden and The AKC Eukanuba Invitational/ We have also qualified on several dogs to compete at Crufts in England and had the priviledge of owning & showing in the US, English Champions bred by Wendy Taylor of the well known Rosscrea Affix in England & winners of high honors at both Crufts & The biggest Cavalier event in England, English Cavalier Club Show.

No matter how many titles and ribbons we’ve aquired over the years, nothing compares with the love & appreciation  we have for our dogs as long lived true companions. We spend our time with uncomplicated, loving comfort spaniels who give loyalty and adoration without judgment or condition, who cuddle on our laps at the end of a long day and sleep on our pillow at night.  We cherish the friendships we have made and the lives, including our own, that are changed because of these amazing toy spaniels. We are blessed  & overjoyed to watch our veterans age with health and grace, living well into their teens. It truly has been our privilege–more so even than our passion--that for the last 21 years we have had Cavaliers in our life, along with the benefits and responsibilities that come with them.
